Taken from Bob's local newspaper, the Elkhart Truth:

Moving sound all over the world is not unusual for Bob Mornar.

But when his business, Sound Move, moved some sounds to the Sultanate of Oman, Mornar got more than an invoice for his troubles. He got an invite to visit the country, as well.

"We had a fun sale for us - along with an invite to visit Oman included," said Mornar, owner of the downtown business.

Sound Move, as part of its home theater and automotive electronics business has a mail order division - custom auto sound - that replicates radios for vintage and classic vehicles from 1940 through 1985.

Ahmed A. Alkhonji, who has a '57 Chevy, saw one of Mornar's advertisements in a trade magazine and faxed over an order.

Mornar said he built a new chassis and front plate for the Alkhonji's Chevy that fits the dash perfectly. "The original had an AM radio. Now he'll have AM/FM cassette. I told him he was going to be cruising the oasis," said Mornar.

Oman is a small kingdom that juts into the Persian Gulf at the head of the Gulf of Oman.

Mornar said he's had other international orders to places such as the Netherlands and Australia, but said his personal correspondence with Alkhonji made this sale more memorable.

What One customer said about us

Dear Bob,

I wanted to drop you a line about the Kenwood customized radio I purchased for my 1962 Cadillac Sedan de Ville. The original tube radio I had in the car just did not cut it. I was getting constant static, just like back in the 60's. The new Kenwood 601 AM/FM cassette radio sounds great. It fit in the dash like a glove; no modifications were needed for the radio or the front speakers that I received. The chrome finish you put on the radio helps it to perfectly blend in with the rest of the dash.

I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of the battery buddy we talked about today. Now when I am working on the interior of the Cadillac I will not totally run down the battery with all those courtesy lights being on.

Regards,

Gordon Koncelik
